FIB: Hair Cutting?

I need a break. The words are getting to me. Sometimes, when I step away from all the papers, I realize all a book amounts to is a bunch of words. Needless to say, this is disheartening. I’m thinking I should cut my hair instead. I don’t really like cutting my own hair. It’s an anxious process. I’ve been attempting to cut my own hair for years now. You might think experience brings mastery, this is hardly the case. The back remains at the back and impossible to reach.

There are some websites of the “How To” variety, which all say the same: wet your hair, buy good scissors and cut. Not much help. I guess no one likes to cut their own hair.

I could try going to a parrucchiere, but the thought of trying to convey what I want makes me as nervous as lifting the scissors, sharpened and misdirected to my own hair. I have a deadly fear that because my Italian is terrible they will carve me out like a forty-year-old casalinghe; that I will be left with over-abundant layers or super-sharp bangs or worse yet: something “stylish.”

FIB is Fridays in Bracciano or an attempt at chronicling life under a castle.

you just reminded me: i was planning on cutting my hair today. midnight seems like as good of a time as any to do it. i won’t even bother looking online at a “how-to” site because you do not recommend them.

Miss Maam! Where in the world are you? We miss you! Keep rockin’ and rollin’ whatever hair you wear!
